Vote No 2012 is a ballot question political fund of the ACLU-MN working with our supporters and volunteers to "Vote No" on amending our constitution.

Mission: The Vote No 2012 Campaign will defend the Minnesota Constitution from amendments that limit civil rights and individual freedoms. The purpose of the campaign is to mobilize ACLU-MN supporters, inform Minnesotans and work with coalitions to deliver "NO" votes in November 2012.

We oppose amending the Constitution because:

• The majority should not vote to limit the rights of any minority group.
• Bypassing the legislature with constitutional amendments will create unintended consequences.

These amendments are mean-spirited because:

• This changes fundamentally who we are as a state, in a direction that places prejudice and discrimination over rights and freedoms.
• These amendments are harmful:
  • One would turn the elderly, poor and active military servicemen and women away from the ballot box.
  • One would permanently prohibit loving couples from marrying.
