Why We Need You
In 1789 Congress adopted ten amendments to the Constitution
that comprise the Bill of Rights. These amendments guarantee certain
freedoms to the citizens of the United States. Throughout history,
there have always been those who have challenged some of these
freedoms. And there have been times when these challenges have been
severe enough to warrant a more intense rebuttal. This is one of those
times. Since the devastating attack of 9/11, a fear has arisen in this
country--a fear that has caused us to seek safety at the cost of our
guaranteed rights. Government secrecy, suppression of free speech, and
discrimination based upon how a person looks are all on the rise. Thus
the need for our work has increased tremendously. And to stay an
effective steward, we must build our capacity.
What You Can Do
You can join the fight to protect our civil liberties through any of the following:
