Prior to joining the ACLU as a staff attorney, Clare fought for her clients’ constitutional rights as a public defender in both Hennepin County, Minnesota and Seattle, Washington. She has tried criminal misdemeanor and felony cases before juries, and argued motions in state and federal courts. Clare has served as a law clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois, and the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia. She received her law degree and a master’s degree in International Human Rights from Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, and her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
