Applications are open for ACLU-MN Legal Department law clerks to assist in our work in Spring, Summer, or Fall of 2027.

Position:
School-year law clerk

Responsibilities will include:

  • Legal and non-legal research, analysis, and writing
  • Evaluate and investigate requests for legal assistance
  • Process (draft, submit, and track) data requests
  • Assist with preparing for meetings and presentations
  • Other advocacy and litigation-related tasks as assigned

Desired qualifications include:

  • Completion of second, or at least first, year of law school
  • Excellent legal and non-legal communications (written and oral) skills
  • Demonstrated interest in social justice issues and/or commitment to protecting and advancing civil rights
  • Eagerness and ability to work with diverse populations
  • High degree of professionalism and emotional intelligence
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and information-gathering skills; and some computer, technology, and social media skills

Salary:

Unpaid

Anticipated Schedule:

Approximately 10-12 hours per week

Flexible schedule with specific, regular office hours
