ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The ACLU of Minnesota is an affiliate of the national ACLU. Founded in 1952, the ACLU-MN works to protect and promote the civil liberties and civil rights of all Minnesotans through litigation, lobbying, and community engagement. The ACLU of Minnesota is nonprofit and non-partisan, defending the civil liberties of everyone, regardless of their politics.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Minnesota (ACLU-MN) is accepting proposals on a rolling basis for non-legal internships in the Fall of 2026, or Spring of 2027 (Part-Time) or Summer 2027 (Part-Time or Full-time).

Internship availability varies and is dependent on organizational capacity and current priorities. We are typically not able to accept more then 2-3 during the school year and 3-5 during the summer due to time constraints.

2. Letter of interest summarizing the issues or policies you would like to work on and explore in your internship, and how these relate to your area of study.
3. One Writing Sample (optional)
4. Two professional or education related references (list relationship to you, email address, and phone numbers). References will not be contacted unless you are a finalist.

Internship compensation is dependent on outside funding sources and programming budgets, and varies depending on individual circumstances for the proposed internship plan.
