Public Education Internship

Location: St. Paul Office

Position Description:

The Public Education Intern’s primary responsibility is to support the Public Education & Communications Department work, which is quite varied.  Regular duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Assisting in editing the ACLU-MN’s quarterly newsletter
  • Mailing educational materials to teachers across the state
  • Basic data entry

Additional responsibilities vary depending on the time of year the intern is employed. During the school year, interns may be asked to attend speaking engagements at schools or work on organizing campaigns on issues like voter education or legislative issues.

Interns may be asked to work on special projects such as researching and creating a presentation on civil liberties issue or helping to create new organizational systems within the framework of the ACLU’s office.

Qualifications:

  • Flexibility & willingness to work on a variety of tasks, with a focus on admin support, editing, online research, and data entry
  • Initiative to work independently on assigned projects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially M.S. Word & Excel
  • Able to work for 5+ hours a week during normal business hours

Salary: Unpaid

Schedule:

  • Spring Internship: January/February – May. Deadline to apply: November 15th
  • Summer Internship: June – August. Deadline to apply: March 1st.
  • Fall Internship: September-December. Deadline to apply: June 15th.
